Basketball Game Preview: Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes vs. James Island Trojans

The Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes will challenge the James Island Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ashley Ridge will be looking to extend their current 24-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Ashley Ridge was fully in charge, breezing past West Ashley 71-41. The Swamp Foxes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 26 points or more this season.

Skyla Tuthill was her usual excellent self, putting up 23 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The match was her third in a row with at least 15 points. Nadia President was another key player, scoring seven points.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, James Island rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They managed a 27-21 victory over the Gamecocks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Ashley Ridge better focus on containing Jailah Greene and Sarah Ross as the pair were huge in James Island's win. Greene posted five points along with seven rebounds and five blocks, while Ross earned nine points and four steals. Greene is becoming a predictor of James Island's success: when she posts at least three blocks the team is 2-1 (and 9-13 when she doesn't). Alex Gigis also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

James Island smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

James Island's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Ashley Ridge, their victory was their 13th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-1.

Ashley Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over James Island in their previous matchup last Tuesday, winning 54-42. Will Ashley Ridge repeat their success, or does James Island have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
