Softball Recap: Three Straight Road Victories for Gorham

Gorham had won three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 11-3 to make it four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Westbrook Blue Blazes a 10-0 shutout. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Blue Blazes recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Adyson Hutchins, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Sawyer VonderHaar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gorham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

As for Westbrook, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Westbrook's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Boulette, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Gorham will take on rival Bonny Eagle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Westbrook is set to square off against their familiar foe Cheverus at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
