Basketball Recap: Discovery Christian Comes Up Short

Discovery Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 48-30 bruising from the Sylva Bay Academy Saints. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Discovery Christian this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-33 back in December of 2024.

Sylva Bay Academy was led to victory by Brody Boyd and Tristen Rogers. Boyd dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards, while Rogers went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points and five steals. Rogers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Timothy Moss, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Discovery Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Discovery Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Woodlawn Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodlawn Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Discovery Christian likes a good challenge. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they and Prentiss Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
