Basketball Recap: Calvary Christian Comes Up Short

Calvary Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Miami Valley Rams. The contest was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but the Spartans couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Calvary Christian still got an impressive performance from Philip Davie, who went 9 of 14 en route to 27 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Davie is now averaging an impressive 16.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Rogan, who posted six points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Calvary Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Calvary Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Miami Valley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Calvary Christian will head out to square off against Oakstone Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Miami Valley, they will welcome Middletown Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
