Baseball Game Preview: D'Evelyn Jaguars vs. Englewood Pirates

The D'Evelyn Jaguars will take on the Englewood Pirates at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. D'Evelyn has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, D'Evelyn came up short against Windsor and fell 11-8. Even though they lost, the Jaguars' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Ryan Kim was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Meiser, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Englewood also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Bennett by a score of 7-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Englewood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Pebbles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Pebbles is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Englewood's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for D'Evelyn, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. D'Evelyn has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Englewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
