Dawson-Bryant is 7-2 against Gallia Academy since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Dawson-Bryant will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Dawson-Bryant proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rock Hill, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since March 27th.

Abbie Deeds made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Black, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Izzy Kitts also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Dawson-Bryant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Gallia Academy gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over Fairland. The game was the first time the Blue Devils have beaten the Dragons on their field since May 5, 2021.
Chloe Bennett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Bennett was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Reagan Skidmore was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gabby Champlin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Dawson-Bryant's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Gallia Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Dawson-Bryant took their win against Gallia Academy in their previous meeting last Thursday by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
