Softball Game Preview: Dedham Marauders vs. Hopkinton Hillers

Dedham and Hopkinton are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Marauders will venture away from home to face off against the Hillers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dedham is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 9-6 win over Holliston on Tuesday. The Marauders haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Mary Stronach made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Elena Goldsbury was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Liana Florio was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Dedham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holliston only posted an OBP of .400.

Meanwhile, Hopkinton strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over Franklin. 12 seems to be a good number for the Hillers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Hopkinton's record now sits at 3-0. As for Dedham, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.

Dedham came up short against Hopkinton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Marauders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
