Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Loretto's Winning Streak

Loretto was the 2-0 winner over Winston County when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs fell 2-0 to the Yellowjackets on Thursday. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Loretto was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Winston County work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 27-25.

Despite the loss, Loretto still got an impressive performance from Ella Potts, who had 13 assists and four digs. Potts has been hot, having posted 12 or more assists the last five times she's played.

Loretto's loss dropped their record down to 16-24. As for Winston County, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9.

Loretto wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Lawrence County on the 2nd. As for Winston County, they will take on Brewer at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
