The Two Rivers Warriors will challenge the Kennedy Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Two Rivers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Two Rivers lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tartan, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Warriors blew past the Titans 10-4 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Grace Reetz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Rall, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dani Shields, who went 2-for-5 with two runs.
Two Rivers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Kennedy was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Visitation by a score of 2-1.
Kennedy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ohara Workcuf, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Two Rivers' victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Kennedy, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Two Rivers has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Two Rivers beat Kennedy 8-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
