Basketball Recap: Edinburgh Takes a Loss

If Edinburgh was riding high fresh off their 87-45 takedown of Victory College Prep on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Edinburgh Lancers took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union County Patriots on Friday.

Union County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nick Watterson, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points. The match was Watterson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Fenton Coyle, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Edinburgh has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Union County, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Edinburgh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-53 loss against South Decatur on the 28th. As for Union County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-54 defeat against Northeastern on the 28th.
