Softball Recap: Tuscarawas Valley's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to 18

Tuscarawas Valley strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Hiland Hawks. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Trojans have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

The team relied heavily on Calli Stutz, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Arieana Wade, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Tuscarawas Valley pushed their record up to 17-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hiland, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Coming up, Tuscarawas Valley will head out on the road to take on Sandy Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 2.6, the Cardinals 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Hiland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Smithville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
