Softball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

Riverside had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 7-10 to make it four. They fell 8-4 to the Dunmore Bucks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bucks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 back in April.

Riverside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kate Reynolds, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

As for Dunmore, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

On Dunmore's side, Rachel Walsh made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Walsh has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily McGowan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Paige Ancherani, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Riverside is set to square off against their familiar foe Lakeland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Dunmore will face off against rival Old Forge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
