Recap: St. Vincent's Saints vs. Calvary Day Cavaliers

If the St. Vincent's Saints were feeling good off their 68-31 takedown of the Groves Rebels on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. Vincent's was beaten by Calvary Day 66-26 on Saturday. St. Vincent's has not had much luck with Calvary Day recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Despite the loss, St. Vincent's still got an impressive performance from Elsie Thompson, who scored 12 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Thompson grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Alexis Ghaleb, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calvary Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Destini Gooddine, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Gooddine is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bre Jones, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

St. Vincent's has not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Calvary Day, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-4.

St. Vincent's will head out on the road to challenge Bryan County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Bryan County's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home while St. Vincent's has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. Calvary Day will take on Savannah Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvary Day is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
