Basketball Game Preview: Primero Bulldogs vs. Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds

Primero hasn't had much luck against Sangre de Cristo recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Primero Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. Neither Primero nor Sangre de Cristo posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Primero is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They had to suffer through a 64-16 loss at the hands of Springfield. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-6.

Alyvia Robinson was Primero's leading scorer, having posted seven points.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 53-11, which was the final score in Sangre de Cristo's tilt against Del Norte on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Sangre de Cristo suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 4-7. As for Primero, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Primero might still be hurting after the 60-37 defeat they got from Sangre de Cristo when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Primero avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
