Baseball Recap: Newark Valley Cardinals vs. Moravia Blue Devils
Newark Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Moravia Blue Devils, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 on April 2nd.
Joshua Karp was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. Karp was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
Karp wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Eynon, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.
Newark Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Moravia, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Coming up, Newark Valley will face off against Union Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Moravia, they will venture away from home to challenge Tioga at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
