Basketball Recap: Porter-Gaud Cyclones vs. West Ashley Wildcats

Porter-Gaud was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 55-42 to the West Ashley Wildcats. If the Cyclones were looking for revenge after losing 47-32 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Ashley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabbie Chinnis, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 15 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Chinnis continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Ladson, who posted 15 points and six steals.

Porter-Gaud's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for West Ashley, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Porter-Gaud and Baptist Hill will compete for holiday cheer at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. West Ashley will take on Berkeley in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. West Ashley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
