Creek Wood came tearing into Monday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Lexington Tigers by a score of 6-3. The Red Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Elizabeth Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kendal Bryant, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Lilly Killebrew was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Creek Wood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 18 consecutive matchups.

Creek Wood's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-12. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lexington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 30-16-2.

Coming up, Creek Wood will venture away from home to challenge McNairy Central at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Red Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Lexington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
