Volleyball Recap: Davidson Day Triumphs

The Davidson Day Patriots were able to grind out a solid win over the Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes on Saturday, taking the game 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-18, 20-25, 25-20.

Davidson Day found their leader in sophomore Lilly Marinelli, who had 21 digs and four aces. Marinelli has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times she's played.

Davidson Day was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 14 consecutive matches.

Davidson Day's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Cape Fear Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Davidson Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Caldwell Academy on the 6th. As for Cape Fear Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Arendell Parrott Academy on the 7th.
