Baseball Game Preview: Shelby Valley Wildcats vs. Lawrence County Bulldogs

The Shelby Valley Wildcats will challenge the Lawrence County Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Shelby Valley took on Floyd Central on Monday. The Wildcats took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Jaguars since on Monday.

Meanwhile, Lawrence County never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Magoffin County 14-0. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Lawrence County pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Shelby Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.

Shelby Valley couldn't quite get it done against Lawrence County when the teams last played back in March as they fell 13-8. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
