Baseball Recap: Silver Stage Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Silver Stage, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Battle Mountain Longhorns 9-1 on Friday. Considering the Nighthawks have won three matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Landen Wolf made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 6.6 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Wolf wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Casillas, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Cody Shackley was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Silver Stage's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Battle Mountain, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Battle Mountain beat Silver Stage by a score of 17-0 on Saturday.
