Basketball Recap: Ridgecroft Snaps 16-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Ridgecroft was the 49-37 winner over Northeast Academy when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Ridgecroft Rams fell 64-56 to the Northeast Academy Eagles on Wednesday.

Despite the defeat, Ridgecroft saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hannah Slaughter went 12 of 25 on her way to 27 points and five assists. Slaughter is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Molly Brown, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Ridgecroft smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Leading Northeast Academy to victory were Arland Davis and Hayes Hatcher. Davis dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 boards, while Hatcher dropped a double-double on 24 points and 21 rebounds. With that strong performance, Davis is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessa Pope, who had eight points and six rebounds.

Ridgecroft's loss ended a 16-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-4. As for Northeast Academy, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Ridgecroft didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-29 win against Pungo Christian Academy on the 30th. Northeast Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
