Softball Game Preview: Ashe County Huskies vs. Starmount Rams

Ashe County is 1-9 against Starmount since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Ashe County Huskies will head out to square off against the Starmount Rams at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Ashe County can't be to happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Wednesday. They came up short against West Wilkes, falling 12-5.

Abby Sheets was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rylee Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Starmount fell victim to West Forsyth and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 14-0 to the Titans. The Rams have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Ashe County suffered a grim 15-8 defeat to Starmount in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Ashe County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
