Summersville came into Tuesday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cabool Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Wildcats not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 24th (when they won 23-7).
Riley Buttress made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Buttress was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Havens, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emily Jewett, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Summersville's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Cabool, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Summersville will square off against Ellington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cabool, they will face off against Willow Springs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
