Baseball Recap: Greenville H Snags Tenth Win in Last 13 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Greenville H rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Augusta E Eagles 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hurricanes have posted since February 22nd.

Adam Greene tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Greenville H got a big performance out of Owen Giles, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Giles is becoming a predictor of the Hurricanes' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't). Alex Dobbins was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Greenville H kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Augusta E only managed four hits.

Greenville H is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Augusta E, the defeat snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 16-7 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Greenville H beat the Eagles by a score of 12-5 on Saturday.
