Basketball Recap: Wilber-Clatonia Comes Up Short

Wilber-Clatonia pushed their score to 58 the last time they played Thayer Central, but on Tuesday they couldn't quite do it again. The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines came up short against the Thayer Central Titans, falling 39-19. The game marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Aiden Zajicek was Wilber-Clatonia's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Cooper Palmer took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

It was another big night for Sam Souerdyke, who posted 21 points in addition to seven boards and four steals for Thayer Central. Souerdyke has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lukas Kroll, who had seven points and seven rebounds.

Wilber-Clatonia's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Thayer Central, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.

Wilber-Clatonia has already played their next match, a 54-28 loss against Sandy Creek on the 8th. As for Thayer Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-44 victory against Centennial on the 6th.
