Baseball Recap: Oxford Hills Victorious

While Oxford Hills's victory against Lewiston wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Blue Devils 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-2 two weeks ago.

Cassius Thibeault looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Oxford Hills: the team is 6-3 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Oxford Hills' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Colton Jendrick, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Oxford Hills is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lewiston, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Oxford Hills is set to square off against their familiar foe Edward Little at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Vikings have won four straight at home, while the Red Eddies won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Lewiston will challenge rival Mt. Blue at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
