Basketball Game Preview: Noble Knights vs. Gray-New Gloucester Patriots

The Noble Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Gray-New Gloucester Patriots at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Noble has nine straight victories, Gray-New Gloucester has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Noble is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Thornton Academy, who was ranked tenth at the time (Noble was ranked third). Noble blew past Thornton Academy 73-53 on Thursday. The Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 64 points the game before, Gray-New Gloucester was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They had to suffer through a 70-29 loss at the hands of Edward Little. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Noble's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.9 points per game. As for Gray-New Gloucester, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Noble came up short against Gray-New Gloucester in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 71-59. Can Noble avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
