Baseball Recap: South Putnam Wins Going Away Against Brown County

South Putnam's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Brown County as they made off with a 12-0 win. South Putnam not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 29-0).

Wyatt Mullin made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Putnam is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise. Mullin was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kason Amies was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Graham Clark was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

South Putnam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the victory, South Putnam broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-7. As for Brown County, they dropped their record down to 0-12 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Putnam will square off against Clay City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brown County, they will challenge Edinburgh at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.25 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
