Softball Recap: Douglas County Tigers vs. Langston Hughes Panthers
The matchup between Douglas County and Langston Hughes on Monday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Douglas County Tigers came out on top against the Langston Hughes Panthers by a score of 20-15. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2023.
Douglas County let Dominique Reid and Arissa James loose on the outfield. Reid went 3-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while James scored four runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Zariah Gordon, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases and an RBI.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Douglas County lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've earned since back in August of 2023.
Douglas County pushed their record up to 2-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Douglas County will welcome Lithia Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Langston Hughes, they will venture away from home to take on South Cobb at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Langston Hughes will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
