Softball Recap: Gladstone's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to 16

Gladstone won the last time they faced Negaunee and things went their way on Thursday too. The Braves walked away with a 5-1 win over the Miners. The Braves' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Tia Schone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lauren Pare was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Sundquist, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Gladstone pushed their record up to 16-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Negaunee, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gladstone will head out to take on New Lothrop on Saturday. As for Negaunee, they will venture away from home to square off against Tawas Area at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Miners surely won't give up without a fight.
