Baseball Game Preview: Mariner Tritons vs. Palmetto Ridge Bears

The Mariner Tritons will head out on the road to square off against the Palmetto Ridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mariner will be strutting in after a victory while Palmetto Ridge will be coming in after a defeat.

Mariner was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Ida Baker on Friday. Mariner put the hurt on Ida Baker with a sharp 8-0 win.

Trenton Taylor and Morgan Waltz did most of the damage at the plate: Taylor scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2, while Waltz scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave Taylor a new career-high. Princeton (PJ) Marino was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Palmetto Ridge unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 13-3 to Oasis. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bears have suffered since February 20th.

Anthony Del Sol was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Omar Rosado, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Mariner pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Palmetto Ridge, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Mariner skirted past Palmetto Ridge 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Does Mariner have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palmetto Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
