Magruder had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 61-60 victory over the Kennedy Cavaliers. The Colonels haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jonah Wertlieb had an outrageously good game as he went 9-for-17 en route to 23 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (three). Steve Magnon was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Magruder will take on Wootton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Colonels their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Kennedy, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Whitman at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
