Softball Game Preview: Spain Park Jaguars vs. Helena Huskies

The Spain Park Jaguars are taking a road trip to square off against the Helena Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Spain Park challenged Pelham on Tuesday. The Jaguars took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Helena faced Chelsea in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Huskies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Hornets. The victory was familiar territory for the Huskies, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Marlee Parsons tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Izzy Vice was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Addison Draiss, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Helena lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February.

Spain Park has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-17 record this season. As for Helena, their record is now 23-12-2.

Spain Park couldn't quite get it done against Helena in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 7-2. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
