Softball Recap: James Lick Comets vs. Oak Grove Eagles
James Lick extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They came up short against the Oak Grove Eagles, falling 18-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 back in March.
As for Oak Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games.
For Oak Grove's part, Taryn Shannon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Shannon has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Oak Grove let Alyssa Schuster and Adeline Serrato run wild. Schuster got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Serrato got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
