Basketball Recap: Jett Smith and Connor Stevens Secure Win for Concord

There's no place like home for Concord, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They took down the Britton Deerfield Patriots 61-42 on Monday. This was payback for the Yellowjackets, who suffered a 64-58 loss the last time these two teams met.

Concord was led to victory by Connor Stevens and Jett Smith. Stevens dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 boards, while Smith went 7 of 17 on his way to 22 points and seven boards. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Garrett, who posted ten points.

Concord was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Britton Deerfield only racked up nine assists.

Britton Deerfield lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Keegan Bush, who put up ten points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Bush a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Ryan Good, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

With the victory, Concord broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-5. As for Britton Deerfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Concord wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 38-31 defeat against Stockbridge on the 9th. As for Britton Deerfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-25 win against Sand Creek on the 10th.
