The Legacy Longhorns will take on the Las Vegas Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Las Vegas took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Legacy, who comes in off a win.
Legacy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Mojave, who was ranked 18th at the time (Legacy was ranked 12th). The Longhorns had just enough and edged out the Rattlers 3-2 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Longhorns as they're now sitting on three straight.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Legacy got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 21-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-13.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas suffered their biggest defeat since March 27th on Tuesday. They came up short against Del Sol, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost four in a row.
Las Vegas was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Del Sol work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-18, 25-10.
Legacy pushed their record up to 16-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Las Vegas, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-15.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Legacy hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 5.2 blocks per game. It's a different story for Las Vegas, though, as they've been averaging only 1.5 blocks. Given Legacy's sizable advantage in that area, the Wildcats will need to find a way to close that gap.
Legacy beat Las Vegas 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
