Volleyball Game Preview: Leuzinger Olympians vs. Lawndale Cardinals

After both having extra time off, the Leuzinger Olympians and the Lawndale Cardinals will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court one another at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leuzinger will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Last Tuesday, Leuzinger beat Beverly Hills 3-1.

Leuzinger had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Lawndale lost 3-0 to Culver City last Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Centaurs: they've now lost three in a row.

While Lawndale was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Culver City's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-20.

Leuzinger pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lawndale, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Leuzinger skirted past Lawndale 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leuzinger since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
