Softball Recap: Oakland Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Oakland won against Wayne County last Sunday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Patriots didn't even let the Covenant Christian Warriors on the board, marking the Patriots' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jazmyne Watkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jada Ellison was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3.

Watkins wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Oakland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for the Patriots: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.8.

The win was the seventh in a row for Oakland, bringing their record up to 10-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Covenant Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Oakland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-0 win against Varsity Opponent on the 1st. As for Covenant Christian, they will take on Central Hardin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Bruins have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
