Baseball Recap: Buffalo Gap Wins Going Away Against Luray

Buffalo Gap had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Luray on Friday. Buffalo Gap was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Luray. With that victory, the Bison brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Cooper Simmons was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Simmons was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Buffalo Gap is 2-1 when Simmons posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Buffalo Gap let Dalton Coffey and Brandon Argenbright run wild. Coffey scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Argenbright scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that Argenbright snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Cline, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Buffalo Gap was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Luray only posted a batting average of .100.

Buffalo Gap's record now sits at 3-4. As for Luray, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buffalo Gap will venture away from home to square off against Staunton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Buffalo Gap's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Luray, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Stonewall Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on April 8.
