Baseball Game Preview: Pine Plains Bombers vs. Highland Huskies

The Pine Plains Bombers will head out on the road to challenge the Highland Huskies at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pine Plains will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Cairo-Durham on Thursday. The Bombers put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 21-7 victory. With that win, the Bombers brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Warren Lounsbury was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Pine Plains is 7-1 when Lounsbury posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brodie Rathjen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Highland came out on top against Pine Plains thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Bombers. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Highland pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Plains, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.
