Basketball Game Preview: Riverdale Raiders vs. South Fort Myers Wolfpack

After both having extra time off, the Riverdale Raiders and the South Fort Myers Wolfpack will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riverdale hasn't scored more than 19 points for ten games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Riverdale is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against LaBelle two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Riverdale had to suffer through a 49-9 loss at the hands of LaBelle. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-6.

Angie Torres was Riverdale's leading scorer, having posted four points. Bonner Destiny held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

While South Fort Myers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They slipped by Clewiston 32-31 last Thursday.

South Fort Myers found their leader in sophomore Mariah Thorne, who posted 15 points. Jer'Miya Jackson was another key player, putting up eight points.

Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for South Fort Myers, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Riverdale came up short against South Fort Myers in their previous matchup back in January, falling 49-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Thorne, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 26 rebounds. Now that Riverdale knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
