Softball Recap: Heights Victorious

While Heights's victory against Lamar wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs won by a run and slipped past the Texans 4-3. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Texans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Sara Paniagua spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Helen Maddux, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Heights hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matches.

Heights' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Lamar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Coincidentally, Heights and Lamar will both be playing Bellaire the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Texans will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
