Basketball Recap: Sargent Farmers vs. Dolores Bears
Sargent was the 61-48 winner over Dolores when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sargent Farmers fell just short of the Dolores Bears by a score of 47-45 on Tuesday. The Farmers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sargent lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kade Temple, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Venzor, who posted eight points.
Dolores found their leader in sophomore Koby McClellan, who went 9-for-20 en route to 23 points and five steals. The game was McClellan's third in a row with at least 16 points. Trayton Traweek was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight boards.
Sargent's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Dolores, their win bumped their record up to 6-13.
Coming up, Sargent will look to defend their home court on Friday against Custer County at 7:00 p.m. As for Dolores, they will venture away from home to challenge Dove Creek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
