Volleyball Recap: Central Indians vs. Park Hill South Panthers
If Central was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of North Kansas City on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians lost 3-0 to the Park Hill South Panthers on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-0 defeat last Tuesday.
Central took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-10, 25-19.
Greely Simpson paced Central's offense, picking up seven kills. Simpson got some help from Hayden Root and her 14 assists. Root was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Leading Park Hill South to victory were Devree Coughlin and Ellie Gibbs. Coughlin had 12 assists and five digs, while Gibbs had ten digs and eight aces. What's more, Gibbs also posted a 66.7% hitting percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in September. Sophia Feder also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Central dropped their record down to 12-22 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Park Hill South, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season.
