LSU and California are trending in the wrong direction in the updated CBS Sports Top 25 College Football Team Recruiting Rankings.

With the defection of Gunner Kiel, the nation's No. 2 recruit, LSU slips from No. 6 to No. 8, while Notre Dame jumps one spot to No. 14.

Meanwhile, California suffered the loss of Ellis McCarthy to UCLA and moves down one spot to No. 10.

The Bears could slide even farther if Shaq Thompson, the No. 5 recruit, flips to Washington, which is possible with the Huskies' hiring of top recruiter Tosh Lupoi.

The new rankings reflect Tom Lemming's updated Top 100.

Alabama holds firm at No. 1. The Crimson Tide have a whopping six recruits ranked in the Top 100 and could still land one or two more before National Signing Day.
