Softball Game Preview: York Suburban Trojans vs. Spring Grove Rockets

York Suburban is 0-4 against Spring Grove since March of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Trojans will welcome the Rockets at 4:15 p.m. York Suburban has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

York Suburban is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Thursday. They lost 20-3 to West York Area.

Celina Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Molly Murray, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Spring Grove can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Gettysburg 14-3. With that win, the Rockets brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Skyla Sigmon made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Sigmon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jozalynn Hartman was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Laiken Ilgenfritz, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Spring Grove picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-9. As for York Suburban, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
