Baseball Recap: Freer Has No Trouble Against La Villa

Freer had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt La Villa on Tuesday. Everything went the Freer Buckaroos' way against the La Villa Cardinals as the Freer Buckaroos made off with a 16-5 win. The Buckaroos haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Alex Gonzalez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Freer is 4-1 when Gonzalez posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Isaac Gonzales was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Oscar Luan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Freer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Freer back to even at 6-6. As for La Villa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Freer will head out on the road to challenge Dilley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for La Villa, a feisty cat fight will be fought as La Villa Cardinals take on Rio Hondo Bobcats at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Rio Hondo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
