Football Recap: Grand Saline Indians vs. Palmer Bulldogs

Grand Saline was the 35-27 winner over Palmer when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Grand Saline lost, don't look at Jett Taylor. Despite the final result, he rushed for 212 yards and four TDs while picking up 9.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 212 yards and one touchdown on only 17 passes. A healthy portion of Taylor's aerial production (97 yards to be exact) went to Kolton Prox, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Eric Cisneros went supernova For Palmer., rushing for 273 yards and four scores while picking up 13.0 yards per carry. Those 273 rushing yards gave Cisneros a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sutton Maddox, who rushed for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries.

Grand Saline's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Palmer, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Grand Saline and Palmer should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Indians (ranked 387th) will meet Rains (ranked 936th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Palmer will face off against Scurry-Rosser at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (286 vs. 579).
