Softball Recap: Dickson County Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

After only two runs in their last matchup, Dickson County made sure to put some runs up on the board against West Creek on Thursday. The Cougars never let the Coyote get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Elizabeth Dunnagan made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Coralee Grove, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Audrey Burr also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Dickson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Creek only posted an OBP of .333.

Dickson County is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for West Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dickson County will head out to take on Fairview at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Creek, they will challenge Northeast at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Coyote are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
