Baseball Recap: Seymour Has No Trouble Against William Blount

After losing to William Blount the last time they met, Seymour decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Governors on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Mason Brown looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Coby Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Andrew Baird was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Seymour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Seymour's win bumped their record up to 16-12. As for William Blount, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seymour will face off against Morristown-Hamblen West at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for William Blount, they will venture away from home to take on Farragut at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
